The FASTO 10Mbit (Ronja) series are short distance, high speed and cost effective Free Space Optical transmission systems based on open HW design. They are an enhanced version of the highly successful Ronja system by Twibright. Due to its lightweight, compact mechanical design FASTO 10Mbit provides a simple and easy to install solution to establish light based wireless connections up to 1000 m. The new product not only covers longer distances than the original Ronja design, but in addition to original design it uses only R45 ethernet plugs to make the whole instalation easier.

Major advantages over radio links
The transparent and wire speed (10Mbit FD) data transfer together with virtually zero latency (0,5 ms normal - 40ms max. trafic) ensures easy integration of the system into any environment. Because the system uses barely visible red light as a transmission medium, Fasto systems do not require frequency licenses and the transmission is not affected by electro-magnetic interference. The light beam is extremely hard to intercep. The FASTO link is a virtual fiber in the air.
